My Performance
Seeking connections constantly, I wanted to find a way to unite a room of strangers through conversation. I passed out cards with provoking statements and asked the audience to use them as talking points with a neighbor.
The Art
Focusing on local Detroiters, we held an open call to attract active artists and designers, asking what "safe space" means to them. The exhibitors' list includes creators who are native Detroiters and current residents who have migrated to the city from national and international locations
We-Are-Familia is a group of artists who work collaboratively.
Together, we foster and build community through multi-sensory and multi-linguistic art.
